an analysis of the single detached homes and their parking spaces in a 2x2 km site of toronto's clanton park neighbourhood (sheppard w & allen)
beginning my research of the clanton park neighbourhood, I chose to examine the garages and parking spaces of the homes as a point of interest
I first devised a typological analysis of four garage types which evolved to a total of seven categories: no garage, carport, one car detached garage, two car detached garage, one car attached garage, two car attached garage, and three car attached garage
for my final proposal, stemming from my garage research, my intervention dealt with expanding the home's usable space to the driveway, regardless of whether the home has a garage or not. there would be a retractable awning installed on each driveway so that the outdoor space could be utilized year-round for various needs such a parking, living or dining space, greenhouse, etc.
